Belper Physiotherapy Clinic specialises in the management of injuries including sports injuries, joint and muscle problems and pain. We also provide advice on prevention of injury which may include a programme of exercises or just do’s and don’ts.
We are here to help you achieve your goals and get you back to doing the things you love whether it be getting back to sport, exercise, or just back to normal everyday activities.
SARAH WALKER, Practice Principal, has been a qualified chartered physiotherapist for over 30 years. After gaining experience in various specialities she opted to pursue her interest in neurological rehabilitation and was the senior physiotherapist at the Young Disabled Unit in Derby for 2 years. She then moved to work at Ilkeston hospital where she developed an interest in musculoskeletal problems. She furthered her postgraduate training by obtaining a diploma in manual therapy at Sheffield Polytechnic. At the same time, she and 2 colleagues set up the Derby Sports Injury Clinic at Derby City Hospital. Further postgraduate training has included manual therapy, pain management and rehabilitation courses run by world renowned lecturers. She is also an accredited acupuncturist.
Sarah has a particular interest in the management of sports injuries, and, with her own sporting achievements being in hockey has spent many years providing a physiotherapy service for various hockey teams / tournaments up to national level.
Sarah set up Belper Physiotherapy Clinic in 1994, basing herself at Riversdale surgery where the incumbent GPs were keen to provide an in-house physiotherapy service with flexible appointments and minimum waiting times. This innovative way of working proved to be very successful and as well as establishing an effective, efficient working relationship with the GPs this has expanded to provide a service to other GP practices and also many of the orthopaedic consultants in Derby Alongside this a very successful private clinic has been running looking after the needs of others unable to access physiotherapy on the NHS.
Office Manager
ANDREA SAVAGE, office manager, has been at the clinic for 14 years. Andrea has a secretarial background working for many years at Lloyds Bank as secretary to the area director. She also has secretarial experience in the medical, legal and medicolegal systems.
